Ok so....how did the premier go in front of the "big wigs"? Thanks for putting the stint with Terry Bradshaw and Jay Leno on the website. I tried to get a copy of the tape from NBC but as usual couldn't get anyone on the phone to inquire about it.

ps Nice pictures! Whose the photographer? LOL

Katrina truely gave us the best team we could've asked for. She brought together students so incredibly diverse and made them unite. I look forward to watching this documentary, not only for its purpose but Mr. Martin, you have given us the best high school year book ever! P.s. We didn't get year books for the '06 or '07 school years because of Katrina. Thank you!

Terri --

We really need to get the word out locally about Walking on Dead Fish, including the website, and the clips on both YouTube, and Digg It. Do you have any suggestions how we can get the word out? I thought of NOLA.com under "prep football". Tell me what you think. I left a message for Ms. Triche (the new principal of ESJ) to call me to see if we can't list it on the ESJ High School's website, but as of today, she hasn't called me back. I will try and call Coach Doe today. I'm hoping that by generating a lot of hype about this documentary, it will be seen sooner rather than later. Then again, I may be wrong. Thoughts?

Did you get a chance to read the "Backstory" yet? OMG I was in tears after I read it. I didn't realize that Mr. Martin went through so much to get this documentary started...

Mr. Martin,
I am a bookkeeper at LaPlace Elementary School. My "kids" go from my school to ESJH and so many of the students in the movie were very familiar to me. We, like ESJH, took in an unbelievable number of "Katrina" students that year. Every person I know in LaPlace struggled for months, even years after this devastating hurricane. Us die-hards thought that it was just another storm. The aftermath was something you cannot describe to people and unless you lived through it, you will never be able to describe it. I attended the 7:00 p.m. movie Friday night. I was looking forward to seeing it since I saw the trailer at the beginning of school this year. What you have done is a wonderful thing. LaPlace endured so much, but it seemed that all we ever heard or read about was New Orleans. I laughed and I cried throughout the movie. The resilience of the people who I live among is absolutely unbelievable. As I listened to your "speech" after the movie, I cried once again. This documentary brought all those feelings back to me as if it were yesterday. As I left Elmwood Palace, I immediately called my sisters in Atlanta, GA and told them to get on the phone and call their movie theatre and DEMAND that they bring this film there. Both of my sisters work in elementary schools and they both promised to "spread the word" and get the phone calls started. This is a documentary that every person who has ever worked in a school setting can identify with, no matter their geology. It was extremely heartwarming, and kinda sad, to see my story on the big screen. I thank you.

This is a wonderful film that's a testament to the tenacity and capacity of the human spirit. I thoroughly enjoyed it and was equally moved by its content. Hats off to all of the athletes both home and displaced after Hurricane Katrina who share this story all over the Southern region. Its a story everyone should see and many can relate to, I'm sure. I hope its limited run is extended and exposure expanded nationwide. Mr. Martin, great job!

I went to see the documentary on Friday at 7:00. I enjoyed it tremendously. I sent emails to all of my friends and family from near and far. I also posted the youtube video on my myspace.I hope that others are also trying to help spread the word and promote this film because it's a story worth seeing.

Racial comments should have been edited.

I saw the movie and it was great, with one exception. There was a part where a young lady was talking to the football player from Brother Martin and made the following comment. "You are better than that Nig.... She said this several times.

Why was this not edited from the Movie. It added absolutely no value to the movie.

Please consider editing this before you put it on DVD.

Thanks.
